Where You At Wednesday : Rando’s Edition Number “I Have No Idea”

Not sure how many “Rando’s Editions” we’ve done, but this is a busy week for the Monster and these are a lot easier for me to do. Submit any suggestions you haveĀ  for future WU@W’s to themixtapemonster@themixtapemonster.com.

Aight, let’s get it in!

KHALID EL-AMIN

elamin

El-Amin was one of my favorite college basketball players, hands down. The stocky point-guard helped Rip Hamilton and UConn upend Dook in the 1999 NCAA Championship Game (a game I won $300 off of by the way). But that’s not the reason(s) I liked him so much. I liked his tough play, and how deliberate he was (so stocky that he wasn’t too quick, but was smart with the ball). He was drafted by the NBA but never really made it there. Most recently as of last year, he played in the Turkish Basketball League for a team which currently doesn’t list him on the roster, but does list former Heel Kris Lang.

The Famous Jett Jackson

“The Famous Jett Jackson” was a Disney show from 1998-2001 starring Lee Thompson Young (above). Jackson was a teenage secret agent and the show was even set in NC. Since his Jett Jackson days, Young has continued acting, appearing in shows like Smallville, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, FastForward, and Scrubs.

Dale Murphy

Dale Murphy was a major league outfielder f rom 1976-1993, primarily for the Atlanta Braves. He was a great hitter, and all around recognized as a “good-guy”. The Monster’s brother loved him, because his name was Dale (as is his). If you followed baseball in the late 80′s, early 90′s, you certainly new Murphy who was a 2-time MVP, 7-time All-Star, and 5-time Gold Glover. Since retiring, Murphy considered a 2004 run for governer of Utah, was appointed to the National Advisory Board for the charity Operation Kids, and has started a non-profit called the iWontCheat orgainization.

Sean Young

Where do you know this chick from? Well, she played Lois Einhorn and Ray Finkle in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.” She was also in “Blade Runner” and “No Way Out” in the 80′s. In the 2000′s she has appeared on Boston Public and Reno911, and a slew of movies that I’ve honestly never heard of and aren’t even links in wikipedia. That doesn’t mean they aren’t good though….or does it? I don’t know. Anyway, in 2008, she went to rehab for alcoholism after an outburst at the Director’s Guild of America Awards where she repeatedly heckled director Julian Schnabel while he accepted a nomination onstage.
