Where You At Wednesday : NC Earthquakes

Shoutout to MWoods on the idea for this post! So a lot of people know about the east coast earthquake last week in VA that was felt even in North Carolina. Got MWoods thinking about some past earthquakes in NC and if there were any?

Well, I’m glad MWoods asked, because the facts are pretty interesting. Let’s take a look at some!

March 8, 1735 – First recorded earthquake in NC history. Took place in Bath (home to Blackbeard for you non-NC-ers)

Feb 21, 1774 – Earthquake from VA felt in Winston-Salem of generous size

Feb 10-April 17, 1874 – 75 earthquakes in McDowell County area. Although the shakes got violent, no real damage reported!

August 31, 1886 – Earthquake which caused most property damage of all NC earthquakes took place on this date. Actually an earthquake from Charleston, SC. Some trace NC hatred towards SC back to this exact date. Okay, maybe not. But seriously. Thanks, SC.

Feb 26, 1916 – Largest earthquake to center inside NC boundaries. Was in Asheville, NC. Intensity VI. Remember, Richter scale wasn’t around until 1935.

There were a few others here and there since, but nothing of severe magnitude. Pretty cool history lesson you got there for the free. Donations accepted.

Young Jeezy – Do It For You (feat Freddie Gibbs)

TM103 on September 20th? Or so they say. This thing is getting pushed back more than “Hell Hath No Fury”…

SkyBlew – Good Gracious

New from NC Representer SkyBlew comes a fresh track off his upcoming “The Extended Walk Home,”  so be sure to click the cover art and peep it!

The Weeknd – The Zone (feat Drake)

As anticipated, as expected, I am loving the new Weeknd mixtape “Thursday”….this joint right here is just incredible.

Brandon Jennings Did Work at NC Pro Am when he played

B Jennings!

Game – Pot of Gold (feat Chris Brown)

Feelin this jam off of Game’s new “RED” album. Check it out.

Monday Kick(s) Off: XI Low Battle

So the Monster has both pairs of these (also have the black/maize joints from 5-6 years ago, worn twice, but that’s beside the point). I want to keep one of these DS for a while, and rock the other ones soon. Which one’s should I keep on ice, and which should I rock? What’s your reasoning? Help the Monster decide!

The Jordan XI Low Bred

Jordan XI Low IE White/Black

The Monster’s Vote: I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking the people.

SuperHeavy – Miracle Worker

New supergroup of Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Mick Jagger and Damian Marley. Album Sept 20th, here’s the single. What you think? I dig but it’s kinda corny. I expect the album to have some really hot tracks though. Jagger sounds ill over reggae beats.

Tyreke Evans – HANDLES, son.

Some of these step-backs are buttttttery.

Five For Friday : HB THE BLACK FALCON

Nuff said. Yeah, I’m goin THERE.
