Where You At Wednesday : Adam Morrison

The picture above probably says it all. I probably didn’t even need to write this post. I could have just shown that photo.

I was rooting for Morrison, I really was. How could you have really not rooted for him. A white dude born in a small town in Montana giving EVERYONE buckets. Not just buckets, but BUCKETS. Before we get into this post, you have to remember, as it’s very easy to have forgotten, just how great this dude was in college.

*cues up highlight reel*

Maybe not entirely worthy of the 3rd pick in the draft, but Morrison didn’t seem (to me at least) like he had a good chance of being a bust. The guy is 6-8 with unlimited range. You just don’t see that often. Not bad at creating his own shot either. Defensive liability though. However, I was envisioning a career where he came off the bench for 10 minutes a game and shot open 3′s.

Morrison even won 2 titles with the Lakers. Say what you want about his PT, but last I checked, he wore the jersey and had the rings.

Then he signed with the Wizards, but was cut this year. SLAM published this brief posting shortly after. Now his main recent mentions in the media are if “Jimmer will be another Adam Morrison” and things of that nature. It isn’t clear if he is playing the D-League, overseas, or not at all.

Maybe it’s just me, but I get the sense that Morrison is like one of those artists that is internally tortured, too smart for their own good, and unable to handle the perils of the public eye.

Maybe he shouldn’t have been a superstar, but the kid should be in the league. Why he isn’t is anybody’s guess.
