Where You At Wednesday : The Monkees

The Monkee’s greatest hits CD is a banger. If you don’t think so, you crazy. These dudes had jams. But what are they up to now?

Michael Nesmith – Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards

Nesmith is now 67 and was most notably in the news recently when a lookalike imposter of his named Barry Faulkner was apprehended and sent to jail in 2009. Faulkner had made a living out of posing as Nesmith for over 40 years. Nesmith’s mother is the one who invented Liquid Paper (whiteout), which she sold to Gillette in 1980 for 48 million dollars.

Davy Jones – Singer

Jones is currently 64 and has done a lot of acting since his Monkees days. In 2008, Yahoo! Music named him the #1 Teen Idol of all time, and as recently as 2009 he performed at the Flower Power Concert Series at Epcot for the Flower and Garden festival.

Mickey Dolenz – Drums

After the Monkees, Dolenz delved into production and direction. He has also been seen in shows like “The Equilizer” and “Pacific Blue.” Last year he signed a deal to record an album of the classic songs of Carole King. Currently, he can be found on stage doing “Hairspray” in the UK.

Peter Tork – Bass

Tork is now 68 and has also done some acting. He was Topanga’s Father on “A Boy Meets World” and also appeared on “Wings”. Tork is currently battling cancer, but has an 80% chance of survival. He lives in Storrs, CT and has 3 children.

  1. didn’t these guys actually NOT play any of their instruments? at least initially?

  2. One thing, Peter has beaten cancer. Where did this info about him come about? He has a very good chance of living a long and healthy Cancer free life.

  3. I think it probably came from wikipedia:

  4. I have a question. Is michael related to DR. James Nesmith?
    Thank you for your time.

  5. All the Monkees are accomplished musicians, except for Day, who plays tamourine. I have seen Peter Tork solo in concert, he is a great guitarist. Mickey Dolenz, also. . Mike Nesmith as always been a good guitairst.
