The Heels got their first victory of the season last night against the Isiah Thomas coached FIU squad. I was impressed with FIU in the sense that they hustled all game and didn’t make it too easy on the Heels. It is clear early on that Roy is intent on developing the freshmen and getting them game time early. This is something crucial to the Heels’ success this year.
I’m really excited about this team. The past couple of years, no matter who was put in front of us, I believed we would stomp them out. It’s exciting to have a year every now and then with a lot of unknowns, and seeing this team grow should be special. They have a monster schedule, and will probably drops some games here or there, but I honestly believe they will be a great team come March if/when they get it figured out.
Next game is this Wednesday against NC-Central again at The Dean Dome.
