You know The Mixtape Monster Blog likes to hip you to the hottest artists coming from the NC area, and this post will be no different.
The BEAST is a hot new live act coming straight outta the Bull City. Pierce, the talented frontman, teaches classes at UNC (and is an alum), and has been a staple on the music scene there for years. You may remember Language Arts tearing up Franklin St spots like The Library a couple years back.
Check out the two videos below. One is for the song “You Inspire Me” live on Broad St in Durham. The other comes from the Hip Hop Symposium that they put on featuring Phonte as a keynote speaker, and Shirlette from Mosadi Music as well. I think I remember seeing Language Arts back in my days on the Hill. I love this kinda stuff right here…ain’t too many acts wanna go near live instrumentation at their hip hop shows, but it adds so much depth in my opinion. And seriously people…you think the G Spot Boyz even know what a symposium is? Doubtful.
