Here are five hot videos I know I have posted before, but just throwing them up for old time’s sake.

One of the most dramatic games ever in THE RIVALRY. UNC comes back in 1974 from 8 points down with 17 seconds left to win. This is the famous Walter Davis (uncle of Hubert) shot. Usually you see this in black in white, but here we got that color.
This might be from that HBO special on the rivalry that aired last weekend, but I don’t know. I’m too broke for HBO. Any ballers out there tape it?
Dah well….GO HEELS!

As you all know, The Mixtape Monster Blog thrives on user requests and submissions. Kaz, who posted a comment for first time today, though a regular reader has requested more Turkish electro-pop. Slow day for my inbox, so this one goes out to you Kaz.

Location: Shitty Karaoke Bar in St. Louis
In attendance: Big Soda, The Mixtape Monster, Pool Shark Matt
Also in attendance: Known SLU Law students on the dance floor
Singing: Introduced as “Jackie,” but clearly a “Jack”
Songs Jackie Sang: “Beautiful Girls” – Sean Kingston, “Rockin’ Robin” – The Jackson 5
SLU LAW STUDENTS ON THE DANCE FLOOR, Clowns or Regular Dudes??
The Monster’s Vote: I would have gone with regular dudes clowning, but one of these cats rounded up pledges of $258 for him to attempt to make out with “Jackie,” thus, for that night, I must say “CLOWNS”

Interesting Fact / Useless Fact – The “Taken” VersionDuring The Mixtape Monster’s excursion to St. Louis, he and I decided to burn a hung-over Sunday afternoon catching a movie. Rather than exercise any precious brain cells still lurking around, we decided to avoid the Oscar-worthy brain-ticklers (The Reader), anything that would depress me about what my future holds (The Wrestler), and movies I had already seen (He’s Just Not That Into You). We settled on Taken, a Liam Neeson-driven action flick that makes up for what it lacks in substance and depth, with an overabundance of bloodied bad guys, drugged-up sex slaves and deep-voiced threats.
I really don’t want to waste my time giving you a full review of this movie. It is what it is. The girl is annoying. Her friend is hot. Liam Neeson is surprising—but effective—as a badass. The anti-climactic big boss man had an eerie resemblance to Jabba the Hut. The boat from the film’s climax somehow steered itself once everyone aboard was dead. There, I managed to sum up every thought that I left the theater with in less than fifty words.
Since there’s no point in straining to find some deep, influential meaning from this movie, I now present what I like to call “Interesting Fact—Useless Fact.”
Interesting Fact #1:
Despite being from Northern Ireland, Liam Neeson is signed on to play Abraham Lincoln in an upcoming film directed by Steven Spielberg.
Useless Fact #2:
Liam Neeson played one professional soccer match for the Bohemian Football Club.

Interesting Fact #2:
Katie Cassidy, who plays the hot friend mentioned above, is the daughter of the eldest Partidge boy, David Cassidy.
Useless Fact #2:
Katie Cassidy can be seen driving a car with her friends (around the 3:15 mark) in Eminem’s video for “Just Lose It.” You’re welcome.
Interesting Fact #3:
Holly Valance, a pop singer and actress, plays a pop singer in Taken. Her single “Kiss Kiss” was a chart-topper in the UK and Australia.
Useless Fact #3:
Holly Valance’s version of “Kiss Kiss” was a cover of a song by Turkish sensation, Tarkan.
Special Bonus:
A couple people have asked what movie-related websites Big Soda likes to hit up in his spare time. To those people I say, get your own sites. Nah, seriously though, here are a few that I frequent, for various reasons…and one for when you don’t need a reason at all.
(1) www.jinni.com – Movie recommendation site narrows down your options based on a ridiculous range of characteristics, including genre, plotline, audience, and even mood. Looking for an essential, 1970s neo-noir, mystery-thriller, based on the life of a private detective? Jinni has three suggestions for you.
(2) www.metacritic.com – For all you wishy-washy, lazy folks out there, Metacritic compiles reviews from a host of critics and media publications, runs them through its own special process of scoring, and puts them in a simple, color-coded format—green for good, yellow for so-so, and red for total bombs. So, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you have 30 seconds to choose what movie you’re going to see, this is the site for you.
(3) www.themovietimeline.com – Talk about a great time-waster. Sure, anyone can tell you that the unmanned U.S. spacecraft Viking 2 landed on Mars to take the first close-up, color photographs of the planet’s surface on September 2. But can that know-it-all tell you that Marty McFly fictitiously arrived in Hill Valley from 1955 on that same day? I didn’t think so.

On the Where You At Wednesday day of “Tubular,” staff member Sliz finds the extinct phrase on his McDonald’s Cup!!!
Granted, it isn’t the “tubular” we all know and love, but more along the lines of Webster’s definition, but we’ll take it!

1950’s Italian Motorcycle Cops getting their “halftime show” on. Pretty cool looking from the aerial view in my opinion. Much cooler than band drum lines, etc.

Guy on motorcycle racing away from cops gets a rude awakening. If you keep listening, this of course, happens near a Waffle House.
