Everyone knows The Mixtape Monster is a NC resident and a huge supporter of the NC hip hop scene, as well as of HOJ, Justus League, Kooley High, and anyone else in these parts making hot shit for your head to bop too. That’s why it is not only an honor, but a pleasure to bring you some Chaundon tracks from the man himself available for download.
Chaundon came through with a WHOLE GANG of tracks for the Monster, so I’m going to break them up over time and drop them out to y’all every now and then. That’s right, I’m stingy with the hot shit!
Word also has it that Chaundon is working on 3 albums for this year, including “No Excuses” which is guaranteed to be super hot. I’ll try to get some more info on that release for y’all.
The Temper Twins are a sick group that the Mixtape Monster has become a big fan of lately. There’s nobody out there doing the shit that these cats are doing. No one out there is breaking it off like futuristic-pimps like the Temper Twins. That’s word bond. Check out the funny ass interview below!
First off, I admittedly first heard about you guys through my man SumKid and his Good Look newsletter. “Change It Up” was the first song I heard and I was hooked from then on out. I love what you guys are doing, and I think you got a fresh new sound that people can be excited about, which is a rarity in Hip Hop (or music in general) these days.
Timmy- Thank You —We’re trying to bring something dope and new in this era of wack music-It’s all about fusion
Jimmy – (growls)
For readers that maybe haven’t heard about you yet, who are The Temper Twins and what is your mission?
Timmy- We’re two bad muthafuckas banging on people with this music and showing we got true passion for good shit-and ya’ll need to recognize
Both Timmy and Jimmy have had their own success individually in other projects (most notably The Living Legends and Mod Squad). How did y’all get hooked up together?
Timmy- I was pissing off the balcony of this hotel when I heard someone screaming “Hey you’re pissing on my head!” This guy ends up climbing over the balcony to my fucking room –the bastard right-and I get in a fight with him in the hallway of the rooms—and Jimmy was there and cracked the fool over the head with his old casio up rock keyboard –ever since then we been cool-next question!
You guys are Cali natives, right? What do you like most about Cali? Ever been out here to NC?
Timmy-You can’t drink and drive but you can smoke and drive-straight cali chronik if you got a licencse-that shit’s ill what the fuck-NC is dope too-I almost had a baby mama out there but that’s another court case—wait what was the question—you guys aren’t social workers are you?Anyway –yeah we Cali boys on some international shit speeding in traffic jams
Your influences are obviously very diverse (from David Bowie to Depeche Mode, to RUN DMC). How are you able to fuse these styles together and make it your own?
Timmy- We are influenced by anything that is good—we love all types of shit- that’s why our music is so diverse and mashed up. We ain’t on no narrow minded shit
How many songs have you guys recorded, and when can we expect an album to drop?
Timmy- We’ve recorded 3 albums worth of shit for the first “four part” Casio session series. They’re nine song ep’s and are named:
She wants to see me bleed
She’s Gotta have it
I Don’t give a Fuck Bitch
I Love You-The Final Showdown
—–Part 2 comes out first—
What artist(s) or group(s) have you guys excited about making music and keeping up these days? Where do you think the future of hip hop is headed?
Timmy- Hip hop is what “hip hop” always has been-a “mix” of styles coming together as one–in ending creating something fresh as fuck and new. We want to be a part of that and beyond-that’s it!! Hip hop is expanding at the speed of life it and it cant be classified as just one thing. Our music is dope and is mixed with hella shit from samba to hard shit-underground hip hop-rock opera to punk rock-to rock-to calypso –alternative—Our music is for everybody—Everybody is invited to this party-straight “World beat” fa realz muthafuckas! Hahaha!
And as far as artist we keep up with –All types a shit ranging from The Cure to the Time my peoples “the Cuf or Bored Stiff”—Messy Marv-Andre Nic—of course Legends—Shit if yo mama sing a good falsetto I’d probably feel her too!
I would say anybody that really is in “love” with they craft-I’m always down with that real shit-feel me!!
Your videos for “Change It Up” and “Depeche Bowie” are ON POINT. While I think that those songs are dope, the videos take it to a whole new level. Who came up with those videos, and how important is this visual aspect of your music to your overall message?
Sunspot Jonz and Oultlier directed the “Change it up” video and Jeven Dovey and Sunspot directed the “Depeche Bowie” video—The basic concept is keep it interesting and have fun while banging out some tight shit-We got three others in the vault not released yet.
Who is Shotgun? I see him listed as a member on a lot of your pages, but never anything about him. Why no love?
Timmy - He’s the guitarist quit making fucking drama-it’s all love
Are you guys considering working with any other artists on your album? Who would you most like to work with?
Timmy- Celine Dione –tickle me Elmo-Fuck I don’t know-anybody that’s “cool” and like we said is really “in love” with their craft-we’ll work with anyone that can blend what we got-with what they got- and can help make something tight-period-and got $omething on the stash-ya know stay out my ashtray
My girl Kate P. , also known as Redfly (and a contributor on this blog I might add) , says that Timmy (Sunspot) ” is hella-nice with the BBQ Chicken but won’t give up the recipe. What up with that? Share the love!
Timmy- Yeah I know Kate P “Redfly” she like her some of my “Okra Winfrey”—I make some good ass “Sunnyside halfway house chicken”. It’s a recipe learned in my travels through Chinese Lithuania projects on the Southside east- anyway -that’s what pretty lil Redfleezy is looking for- nobody but my heir gets that- I’m gonna open up soulfood sushi spot one day-I’m a chef- and my boy Jimmy Temper make some mean ass dishes too-like Jalapeno Pork chop special with a lil slice of lemon is bomb..have that with some King Cobra koolaid mix-WHHHOOO! That shit is good.
Where do you guys draw your inspiration from? What are you into outside of the music world?
Timmy hit’s his third blunt one last time and states he’s interested into playing Cricket and my Mama—and before I could ask him if he was stating he wanted to “be” my mama or “do” my mama which either I didn’t understand he then claims he draws inspiration from “whatever the fuck he wants”-and suddenly drops his trousers and starts taking a piss on the mini radio in the interview suite and exits-I hope he knows I’ll be billing him for that.
Jimmy thinks for a second–then flicks his cigarette at me and states he’s interested in “staying stealth” cuz nowadays everybody’ up into everybody business-I’m tired of talking (Right then Jimmy walks outta the room with his middle finger up rambling something about how “the new digital tv box is really a camera for the devil man-I’m staying rabbit ears bitches”-thus ending his part of the interview)
Any last words for the readers?
This was emailed to me last week—
The Temper Twins just wanna say: Fuck anybody that don’t love underground shit, We are here to change the whole game!!
PS – Timmy says he “ain’t paying for your stinking radio”
It’s all good, Timmy. The Monster rolls with tons of stinking radios. I got radios on top of radios that play radios with radios.
The Monster is busy busy these days, so this post going to be a short one. My apologies. Keeping it simple here, straight up battle style.
The Adidas ZX 700
Saucony Courageous
The Monster’s Vote: Going with the Adidas on this one. A little simpler. I used to rock Saucony’s back in the day on the regular, but haven’t had a pair in a while. These are a little too much for me, though I like them.
“You say you smokin on McCain, I would have to question it / and probably wouldn’t pass you the blunt for suggesting it”

Anyone who knows Sliz knows I am no stranger to robotics. Although the LEGO medium is by far my favorite, I don’t discriminate nor is my curiosity bounded by robots that people build or that companies build. I am fascinated by all types of robots and am myself an amateur tinkerer. One of the reasons I love robots so much is because i see them as a creative and artistic interpretation of a fundamentally utilitarian device. Technically, anything that performs any kind of function for you could be argued as being a robot but we all have a pretty common understanding of the differences between tools and robots. An electric can-opener performs the same philosophic task as a Roomba vacuum cleaner or assembly-line arm yet we normally wouldn’t call it a robot. Nowadays, robots are a even part of a childhood and robotic toys are becoming more and more advanced – taking on less and less of a ‘toy’ preclusion.
WowWee is the stand-alone leader when it comes to robotic toys, well pre-built robotic toys, and the above article relates to their newest unveiling, which ironically enough is less of a toy and more of a tool. Pocket-sized projectors will revolutionize many parts of our world. Things such as business meetings, mobile presentations, social networking and even our personal entertainment and connectivity to the world could find a use for this device – and with time the technology will only get more powerful, compact and inexpensive just as any other technology. Imagine being mailed a small piece of plastic, about the size of a flattened fist, with a single clear lens/button on the top; coming to you in a regular stamped envelope. Instead of reading the letter you would press the button and a holographic image or message would appear in front of you, about a foot or two high of the ground and present information. This image is no stranger to anyone who’s ever watched a Star Wars movie and now is closer to becoming a reality than ever before.
Now I’m not here to give any kind of plug to WowWee – if I were doing that I most certainly would write about LEGO – and I’m not recommending or trying to convince anyone to go out and spend $400 on a projector they can carry because frankly, I’m not about to do that and I don’t really think anyone, including WowWee, expects these products to be that significant in the grand scheme of things. I wanted to share this bit of news with the readers of this excellent blog because I think it really is amazing what can be accomplished with some time and money for research and development and I legitimately am impressed with these products. They represent another step toward the future everyone dreams about and are a just plain exciting gadget.
