Yo! So I got off work from the 22nd – 2nd. So I won’t be updating the site much in there. If you got a submission, send it to me and I’ll throw it up. I might throw up some stuff randomly if I get bored during that time, or come across something super hot, but if not, don’t hate on a player cause I’m giving you fair warning.

So, Murs just dropped a compilation/mixtape/rarity CD called “Murs 3:16 Presents : Murs And The Misadventures of the Nova Express” last week. It’s a digital only release, and you can cop the ish here. Since Murs is a supporter of the Monster, I figured I’d drop a review of the album, because I was feelin it.
“The Misadventures of the Nova Express” is the first CD Murs has released with the “Murs 3:16 Presents” header on it. According to the insert, he’ll be dropping that on all the stuff he is associated with in the future (MCTV, etc.). A good consolidation to keep his name out there and in people’s mouths in my opinion. This CD is a collection of rare tracks and mixes by Murs and some of his peoples that he thought his fans would enjoy. I have to say, as always, he did not disappoint.
I was hooked from the first track, one that only lasted about a minute, and had me wanting more. “Ups and Downs” was I thought, the perfect track to open with. Murs spitting that real-real hooks you in quick, it’s one of those tracks that just feels like it encompasses Murs.
Another one of my favorite tracks is the second one, “Down In ‘Dena,” and it’s a hot ass storytelling track. Honestly, to me, it sounds like “Grindin’” by the Clipse meets “A Nightmare On My Street” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. This is def one I would check out, or if you don’t purchase the album, def give this one a listen. The beat also includes a sample of a graffiti can being shaken, which is hot.
“LA Blues” featuring Dax Wax is a quintessential West Coast track, you can feel the left side in it from the get. “Babylon” is a great Anti-Police jam. It gives you a different feeling than something like “Fuck the Police,” though. Don’t get me wrong, I love that NWA jam (who doesn’t), but it’s def something you have to be in the mood for, while “Babylon” is something you can cruise too.
There’s also a hilarious interlude where Dope Pope chops up the theme song from “The O.C.”. Even THAT had me making the neck work.
Other stand out jams on here include “She Had A Nascar,” another hilarious track parodying NASCAR and it’s fans (I love this, and I’m even from NC, where people seem to think everyone likes NASCAR…..and sidenote: I only know about 3 people that like that shit). “1st Love” is another rare gem that Murs puts in work on.
Appearances and other songs on the album are by Supreeme, Isaiah, and Asek, and all seem to complement Murs well. If there’s anything about this CD that I didn’t enjoy, it’s that it just reminded me of how long I’m going to have to wait for “Murs For President”.
You won’t find any club bangers on this disc, and you might only find one or two songs that will get heavy rotation on mix CDs you make and the like. But one thing’s for sure, you will have something you can ride out too. Something you can always enjoy, no matter your mood. For a compilation/collection/rarities album, this is one of the best I’ve heard in a while.
