After all the hype and all the hoopla, today is the day. September 11th. While all Americans will be remembering the events of 2001, a hefty percentage will also be heading to music stores nationwide to pick up “Curtis” and/or “Graduation.”
Personally, I don’t see any way Kanye West loses this. It boggles my mind anytime anyone says they like 50 Cent, I just don’t understand it. He blatantly lies in his lyrics (I realize a lot of rappers do this, but none of them should), and then admits it to magazines and expects you to still buy it and bump it. Somehow though, all the polls on the Internet seem to be rather close when polling which album people will buy. Amazing. Everyone I know is hype on Kanye, thinks 50 sucks. I guess that’s because I don’t run in circles with many middle school girls though.
My main point of this post though is to encourage ALL OF YOU to go out this week and buy Kanye West’s “Graduation” album. Now, I like Kanye (though sometimes I wish he would go back to just production and guest appearances), but his arrogant side gets on my nerves. For example, he is still complaining about not winning an MTV VMA award. Homey…seriously, what hip hop head gives a shit whether you win a Moon Man or not. Come on, pick your battles ‘Ye! Anyway, yes I think you should buy Kanye because I’ve heard it’s amazing (I purposefully didn’t listen to the leak, and have avoided hearing “Stronger” at all too….in the words of Dead Mike, “I’ma old school this one”), but I also strongly think you should buy Kanye to help get rid of 50 Cent.
I want 50 to eat his words. I want him to know that people now think he sucks. I want him to be seen as the Britney Spears of the hip hop world and have people saying “Damn, dude REALLLLLLY fell off.” I want him to have to sell Tyson’s old mansion and move in to Diddy’s guest house or some shit. I don’t know if it will actually happen (as in him keeping his word about retiring from solo albums), but I’d like to see him explain why he won’t. Help stop bullshit hip hop and everything it stands for, and buy the album from the artist who tries to expand on musical horizons and not capitalize on the same cliched formula over and over. This is your chance to speak out against the wackness (also known as Hypenitis (c) Canibus), so do that shit!
Buy Kanye. Fuck 50.

Hahaha, nice. I see your point on the complaining part man, I know he made some of those mistakes in the past, but I actually see his side this time. He’s not complaining about the awards, but more so how he was exploited and the setup. Did you hear the Hot 97 interview? (it’s on the site) It’s pretty messed up what MTV and GQ have done, so I let him slide on this one. Man, the album is banging, I hope he keeps rapping forever!

YES – I just copped it and banged it on my lunch break. Though I’m only through 10 tracks, I’d say it’s his best to date. More experimental and less braggadocio (sp?). More succint and tight of an album for sure.
